Who we are:
Seb is an emerging composer and conductor, having been the student conductor of Coventry University Orchestra between 2012-2014; he was also invited to work as bandmaster in American Salvation Army summer camp in 2013. Seb also teaches lower brass & percussion, whilst conducting for the Coventry-based ‘Workplace Choir Company’, and 'Philharmonic Society.' His compositional work has been played and recorded by ensembles across the world.
Jon is an all-round musician, whose strengths lie within composing using digital equipment. He has composed for various film clips in the past including a short film entitled Tinnitus in his first year at university, and then went on to compose music and foley for a clip from Monster Inc. in his final year. Jon is also a capable performer on multiple instruments, and has the ability to play, compose and recreate music purely by ear.
MenCho started in 2013 when Jon and Seb formed a community men’s chorus for their final university project. Whilst running the MenCho Men’s Chorus Jon and Seb sparked interest from creative professionals which has been the catalyst of forming MenCho as a creative and social enterprise with the sole purpose of enabling music making within communities.
Jon and Seb’s first collaboration, a piano/percussion duet, undertaken in 2011 encompassed arranging and performing whilst both BA Music Composition students attended Coventry University. Continuing to work together on university assessments, they decided on an ambitious project to end their time as undergraduates...this was the MenCho Men’s Chorus! The Men’s Chorus gained serious momentum after both the assessed performance and at the end of the university course which evolved into MenCho Community Chorus Projects as a social enterprise.
